Ring Cut Length Calculator

Using this calculator

Plan stock for rolled pipe, tube and flat bar using a clearly defined finished ring dimension.

How to use it

Choose units and diameter or radius. Select the inside, outside or centerline surface, then enter the radial section size, joint gap, trim allowance and quantity.

Understanding the results

Review the centerline, inside and outside diameters, net developed length, blank with trim and total stock length.

Which section size should I enter?

Use the section depth in the rolling plane: pipe or tube outside size, flat-bar thickness when rolled flat, or bar width when rolled on edge. Hollow-section wall thickness alone is not the radial depth.

Scope and limitations

The neutral axis is assumed at the section midpoint. Material, profile and rolling practice can require trial rolls and additional allowance. A 36-inch centerline diameter has a circumference of about 113.10 inches.
